THE Quran exhibition held in Cranbourne last Saturday was hailed as a great success.
Organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Victoria, the event drew a crowd of more than 400 people, including people from Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley, Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan, City of Casey councillor Wayne Smith and councillor Amanda Stapledon were among the attendees at the event at Chisholm TAFE.
The Quran, revealed 1400 years ago, is the scripture for Muslims around the world and the exhibition featured two lectures that highlighted the features of the Quran.
And the art gallery, which had paintings and calligraphies done by local artists, was a very popular part of the exhibition.
President of the association Javed Choudhary said the event was a resounding success with results that were beyond expectations.
“We’re really glad because we put our heart and soul into it,” he said.
“The exhibition was intended to draw crowds from all faiths, all ages and a wide spectrum of community members.
“We got excellent feedback from local councillors, politicians and inter-faith leaders who attended.”
Mr Choudhary said there are already plans to take the exhibition to other places in the future to continue bringing people together and promote peace, tolerance and harmony.
“We also want to remove the misconceptions through the seeing and learning of the true and beautiful teachings of Quran and Islam.”
