THE Rotary Club of Cranbourne’s annual golf day was a hit last week, raising money for local charities.
About 140 people teed off at Ranfurlie Golf Course on Tuesday 22 November for the club’s 45th annual golf day, with Lea Corrigan’s team coming out on top at the end of the competition.
While final figures are not yet known, more than $8000 was raised to go to youth and community projects.
The Cranbourne Regional UCA Food Van Project will be the main beneficiary from the event.
The mobile food van provides hot soup and coffee to a growing number of homeless people in Cranbourne.
Rotary Club of Cranbourne president Paul Rice said he was delighted with the support the club received from sponsors.
“Without their help, it would be impossible to run such a successful charity golf day,” he said.
“Fortunately, the weather was perfect and the course was in magnificent condition.
“This year we had about 140 participants who all enjoyed the day and will hopefully join us again next year.”
Mr Rice said with the growing number of requests for help in the community, the Rotary Club of Cranbourne was always looking for local businesses that might be able sponsor one of their projects.
He encouraged businesses to consider putting a team together for next year’s golf day, knowing that 100 per cent of the proceeds go back into the community.
Anyone looking to donate or join the club can contact Mr Rice on 0418 369 149.
