Time to celebrate youth

YOUNG people in the City of Casey now have the opportunity to apply for grants to help celebrate National Youth Week next year.
The State Government is now offering grants for people, aged 12 to 25 years old to help plan and stage workshops, events or local projects for youth from 13 to 22 April to mark youth week.
Grants of up to $2000 are available in two categories – for young people working with an organisation to deliver a local community-based event or grants for young people working with an organisation to deliver an event that raises awareness of depression and anxiety.
The $155,000 grants program has been made available through a partnership between the Baillieu Government, Commonwealth Government and Youthbeyondblue.
Beyondblue acting chief executive Clare Shann said beyondblue was pleased to have the opportunity to reach so many young people across Australia.
“We are supporting youth week events to remind young people that help is available and it’s OK to talk about mental health problems,” she said.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said National Youth Week was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the significant contributions young Casey residents make to their communities each day.
“The Baillieu Government is proud to support the efforts of Casey youth to create opportunities for all to enjoy National Youth Week,” she said.
Applications for grants close on Friday 9 December.
