GRANDPARENTS stepped back into the classroom at Hampton Park Primary School last week.
The school held its annual Grandparents’ Day on Wednesday 16 November, giving students the chance to showcase their talents, work, classrooms and school to their older loved ones.
The corridors, physical education (PE) centre and classrooms were filled with smiles, laughter and pride during the afternoon as 60 grandparents attended the event.
The afternoon began with a welcome from the school captains, principal Leonie King and school council president Lynda Carter.
Students and teachers organised lunchtime activities in the PE centre along with tea, coffee and snacks provided by the school council committee.
The grandparents then attended classes with their grandchildren and shared stories of their life, especially their schoolday memories, and also participated in different activities organised by the classroom teachers and specialists.
Ms King said the day was a great success.
“In today’s fast-paced, motorised life, get-togethers, community gatherings and festivities that celebrate family bonds are important to further polish the social and interpersonal skills of our students,” she said.
“Thank you to all those grandparents in making this event a success by their presence and participating in the activities organised by the students.
“What a wonderful way for us to remember our grandparents.”
