A forum to discuss local transport will be held in Berwick next week: 50159
CASEY residents are invited to hear about the future of the Monash Freeway and public transport in the region at a forum next week.
The City of Casey will host the Better Roads, Better Buses, Better Trains Forum at Monash University Berwick Campus, Lecture Theatre G121 Building 903, on Wednesday 16 November from 8.45am to 1pm.
Representatives from the council, South East Melbourne Manufacturers’ Alliance, RACV, VicRoads and the Department of Transport will present on future road and transport opportunities for Melbourne’s outer south-east.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes encouraged residents to register their attendance for the forum.
“This is a unique opportunity for Casey residents to learn about the future of road and transport opportunities in Melbourne’s outer south east,” she said.
“Council is committed to advocating strongly on behalf of residents for better transport outcomes.
“State road improvements, the improved capacity of the Monash Freeway (Hallam Bypass) and extended and enhanced bus services are at the top of council’s 2011-’12 advocacy priorities.”
Cr Balmes said Melbourne’s outer south-east was facing numerous transport challenges as the region’s population grew.
“There is an urgent need to improve the capacity of the Monash Freeway (Hallam Bypass), bus services and the public transport network to ensure they keep pace with the increasing population and community expectations,” she said.
Places are limited. To register your attendance at the forum visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/advocacy by Friday 11 November.
