CASEY’s arts community came together to celebrate the role of the arts in the municipality at a Broadway-themed dinner recently.
Approximately 200 people went to the annual Mayoral Arts Dinner at the Somerville Function Centre in Hampton Park.
Mayor Shar Balmes said the event was a good opportunity to celebrate the arts in Casey.
“Our inclusive arts community (contributes) to the vibrancy and well-being of our entire city,” Cr Balmes said.
The 2011 Lindsay King Arts Initiative Award was also presented on the evening.
The award is presented to two individuals for their positive contribution to Casey’s arts community.
Janet Matthews was awarded for her contribution to visual arts and Donna Dowler received the award for her impact in the field of performing arts.
