THE season’s popular trends were strutted on the stage by the most fashionable fillies during the Myer Fashions on the Field competition on Sunday.
Bright colours displaying this season’s hottest trend – colour clashing – was a popular choice by many fashionistas at the TAB Sportsbet Cranbourne Cup.
Others stuck to the classic look, with black, white, navy and beige still a popular look on the field.
The contestants, in the Myer Lady of the Day category, topped off their outfits with matching accessories – clutch bags, hats and fascinators and many opting for gloves.
Their was also a great display of classic style in the Myer Man of the Day section, with men teaming their black and grey suits, with a touch of colour.
Entrants in the competition had to catch the eyes of the judges – 2008 Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic, Country Racing Victoria’s Best Dressed Racegoer Breanne Fanning and Country Racing Victoria’s Fashion Blogger for the 2011/12 racing season Olivia Pallotta.
Ms Pallotta said there were so many contestants who looked great in the women’s section that they had to hold a second heat.
Ms Dundovic, who also headlined the judging panel last year, said the fashions at Cranbourne were amazing this year.
“We didn’t plan on having anther heat at the end, but we had to,” she said.
She said all the entrants showed a great display of the season’s fashion trends.
“Colour clashing is the big one this season, wearing two great colours together,” she said.
“There’s also one they are calling ‘desert bloom’, which incorporates some great floral prints.
“Neutral tones an animal prints are still a popular choice.”
Ms Dundovic said it was great to be back at Cranbourne, which was made easier this year as she’s now living in Melbourne.
