CRANBOURNE best friends Todd Poulter and Andrew Cavanagh’s friendship will be put to the test this Saturday when their beloved Pies and Cats go head to head in the AFL grand final clash.
Todd, a mad Collingwood supporter, and Andrew, a keen Geelong follower, who have been best friends for about 10 years, are both hoping for their own fairytale ending this weekend.
“The boys are going to stand up and bring it home to give the mighty Mick his fairytale ending,” Todd said.
“We’ve done it once, we’ve done it twice, the third time’s a cake walk,” said Andrew.
And while it’s all been a bit of fun and games stirring each other throughout the year, the boys admit the grand final was a different story – “the gloves are off”.
“If we’ve learnt anything over the years, it’s that anything can happen in football and it isn’t over until the fat lady sings, so we’ve been quite civil with the odd niggle here and there,” said Todd.
“In saying that we’ve come to fists before getting caught up in the emotion of a final.
“We’re both very confident, passionate supporters.”
When asked if the loser will be able to live it down after the final siren, Andrew simply replied: “Oh bloody oath the loser will know about it, but it’s all in good fun,” he said.
The boys said they planned to watch the game together on Saturday in true Aussie fashion.
“We will be watching the game together in style, on a projector with surround sound, with a can in the hand and the barbecue sizzling,” Todd said.
