CRANBOURNE resident Christine Henderson knows all to well the frustration felt by drivers using Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road.
Ms Henderson, who has lived in the area her whole life, is a regular user of the stretch of road – which was named the Casey council’s number one priority for an arterial road duplication upgrade.
Ms Henderson said the road caused lots of frustrations for herself and others.
“As a regular user of the Cranbourne-Narre Warren Road, I have watched the steady increase of traffic along that road,” she said.
“I find myself now having to plan any trips into Narre Warren limited before 10am and after 2pm because before 10am and after 2pm is school traffic and peak hour traffic.
“Particularly from the intersection of Greaves Road and Cranbourne Narre Warren Road, heading into Cranbourne, the road is a bottleneck and during peak times the traffic backs up as far as Golf Links Road or further.”
“On Cranbourne-Narre Warren Road, between Pound Road and Thompsons Road, if there is a breakdown, it slows the traffic down almost to a standstill.”
“Whenever there is a car accident it actually shuts the whole road down, and traffic have to divert down side streets causing more chaos.”
Ms Henderson said something needed to be done, but she was concerned about the short term burden if action was taken.
“Duplication of the road from Pound Road up to Thompsons Road or extended further up to the Cranbourne-Berwick Road would be beneficial to many, as the road is becoming very busy with all the new estates feeding onto the road,” she said.
