IT’S official … Tooradin’s Beau Miller is the best player in the Casey Cardinia Football League. For another year.
Miller, the Seagulls playing coach, won the Norm Walker medal at the best and fairest count on Monday night.“It’s a shock, I didn’t expect this and only came along to enjoy the night with my teammates,” Miller said.
Cranbourne’s Justin Berry – who was judged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) – was third in the Walker medal, Beaconsfield’s Daniel Mislicki splitting him and Miller.
Miller won the medal in 2007 – when he said he played better than this year. In 2006, he had treatment for eye cancer. “I had a point to prove in ‘07, I came back from injury and was lucky to be playing,” Miller said. However, overcoming physical challenges is not new to Miller.Throughout his illustrious career, he has worked through serious injuries, including a ruptured spleen, torn knee ligaments and a broken wrist.
Miller replaced former Collingwood player Chad Liddell as coach at Tooradin this year. “I love it here and want to keep playing. My family is involved and the environment is great,” Miller said. “My girlfriend watches every game with my son – it’s fantastic.”
However, the football geography he may next be covering could be about to change. It was announced at the Ellinbank and District League grand final on Saturday, that Tooradin has officially applied to join that league.
