DOES Casey have talent?
There’s one way to find out – at auditions for Casey’s Got Talent, formery Casey Idol, in October.
Auditions for Casey’s home-grown talent competition will be held on 6 and 9 October with the main event, a Mayoral Charity Concert spectacular, to be held on 5 November.
Aspiring performers, including singers, dancers, comedians, instrumentalists, bands and magicians are all encouraged to audition.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said Casey residents were a creative and talented bunch and that Casey’s Got Talent was just another way to show it.
“I certainly believe Casey’s got talent,” she said.
“Now I need residents to prove me right.
“Casey’s Got Talent is a chance to bring together the top performers from the local community, and to showcase their talents and perform in front of a large and supportive audience and I invite entertainers of all types, talents and ages to audition.”
Entry to the competition is open to people of all ages, living, working or attending an educational institution within the municipality.
Individuals or groups can audition in four categories – Primary School Age, Secondary School Age, Open and Themed (’70s era).
An entry fee of $10 per act applies, with audience members encouraged to attend for a gold coin donation.
The 6 October audition will be held at Casey Civic Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren, from 1pm to 4pm and the 9 October auditions will be held from noon to 4pm at The Factory, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East.
Finalists will competefor prizes at the Casey’s Got Talent Final from 7pm on Saturday 5 November at the River Gum Performing Arts Centre, RiverGum Primary School in Hampton Park.
