Primary school base for child nurse

A MATERNAL and child health nurse is now easily accessible for Lyndhurst residents.
A City of Casey Maternal Child Health (MCH) nurse now consults from Lyndhurst Primary School four days a week.
Previously, Lyndhurst and Lynbrook families were forced to travel to Cranbourne and Hampton Park to access maternal and child health services.
City of Casey acting manager youth and family services Cheryl Casey said the MCH service was available free of charge to all families with children aged up to six years of age.
“The service is designed to empower and support families with the demands of early parenthood,” she said.
“Services provided include monitoring of the health, growth, development and wellbeing of the infant, child and family. “MCH Nurses also offer parents a range of information, assistance, support and guidance on a broad range of issues.”
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said the council recognised the need to introduce a more localised service following a mapping exercise last year.
“I am sure families will welcome the new service which has been developed by council in partnership with Lyndhurst Primary School,” Cr Balmes said.
To make appointments for any MCH centre, including Lyndhurst Primary School, contact City of Casey Maternal Child Health central booking number on 9705 5590.
The new service is operating out of Lyndhurst Primary School, located at 70 Brookwater Parade, Lyndhurst.
