STUDENTS from a number of schools in Cranbourne and surrounds raised their voices last week in the biggest music gig in the country.
Cranbourne West Primary School, Courtenay Gardens Primary School, St Francis de Sales Catholic Primary School, Rivergum Primary School and Clyde Primary School took part in Music: Count Us In last week.
At 11.30am on Thursday, more than half a million children from across Australia sang the same song, at the same time on the same day.
The song that students sang was, ‘We’ve Got the Music’ written by three students from different states in the country with the help of Rai Thistlethwayte from Thirsty Merc.
Cranbourne West Primary School performing arts instructor Sharon Start said the event went fantastic.
“The kids had been working on it for quite some time and were really ready to perform it,” she said.
It’s the fourth year we have taken part and its something we will always be involved in.
“It emphasises the importance of music in schools.”
Ms Start said the student choir led the school with the vocals and choreography.
She said the students would now perform the song at their upcoming school concert.
