Ablett wrap-up for Auskick

By Sally Zou
CRANBOURNE Auskick celebrated its final clinic with a presentation day held for 130 kids on 20 August.
The day was attended by City of Casey councillors Geoff Ablett (a former AFL player) and Amanda Stapledon, who handed out Auskick medallions, trophies and certificates to all the kids for their efforts this year.
“It was a lovely wrap-up for the year, and they were all very excited to meet Geoff,” centre co-ordinator Matt Blake said.
Mr Blake said the high level of attendance this year indicated that the kids had thoroughly enjoyed Auskick.
“They’ve all successfully learnt the basics of handballing, kicking, and marking,” said Matt.
Other outstanding awards were given to 32 volunteer helpers mainly consisting of mums and dads who had been involved in coaching and running the clinic.
Cranbourne Auskick coach Darren Butler has also been nominated to be Coach of the Year, with the award set to be announced on Wednesday 7 September at the Dandenong Stingray Social Club.
