Teens charged with assault

FIVE teenagers have been charged after they beat up a man and struck him with a skateboard in Hampton Park on Friday.
Five youths, aged 17 and 18, were walking east along Somerville Road about 3pm on 26 August, when one of them allegedly threw an unknown object at a passing vehicle.
Police said the victim, a 35-year-old man, pulled over and confronted the group and they then set upon him.
The youths are alleged to have punched and kicked him and hit him with a skateboard, police said. The victim received minor bruising and abrasions.
The group were said to have fled the scene when witnesses approached.
Police later found and charged five youths – one Endeavour Hills teen of European appearance, and four Sudanese youths from Doveton, Dandenong, Narre Warren and Morwell.
Police charged them with assault, intentionally causing injury and affray.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
