Government releases more land for development

By Bridget Cook
LAND in Cranbourne North has been approved for the development of a new community of 5600 people on 190 hectares.
Planning Minister Matthew Guy this week approved the new Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) for Cranbourne North, at the corner of Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Thompsons Road.
This is the second and final stage of planning for the Cranbourne North precinct.
The PSP includes a local town centre on William Thwaites Boulevard, a primary school and kindergarten, sports ovals, a series of wetlands, local parks and trails linking residents across this new suburb.
A new development contributions plan worth $55 million has also been approved, covering both stages of the PSP. Funding will be provided for local sports ovals, community and road infrastructure.
Growth Areas Authority has worked closely with the City of Casey to complete the PSP over the past two years.
Mr Guy said the State Government was committed to improving housing accessibility and affordability for every family.
“Victoria grows by approximately 90,000 people each year, and this government is doing all it can to accommodate this population growth,” he said.
“The Coalition Government is on target to release 50,000 new housing lots this year.”
