CASEY Radio’s new Multi-faith program will give listeners a chance to learn about the different religions in the area.
President of the Multi-faith network Gamini Fonseka said the new program, which started last Sunday, would not be forcing anyone to convert to a particular faith, but would focus on educating people.
“Every week we will look at each faith to help people better understand them and to give a clearer picture because we live in a multicultural society,” Mr Fonseka said.
“We want to give people the real picture and real meaning of those faiths and if they want to ask questions, we can answer them.”
The program aims at clearing any misconceptions people may have and there are currently five religions on board, including Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Sheik.
Presenter Andrew Williams, who is also a musician, said the program was about creating harmony and understanding and would feature a range of different things.
“Each show will present some guest speakers sometimes and we will talk about a different subject every week,” he said.
“My motivation is to help people and teach things that are helpful, such as meditation and there may even be some live performances.”
The Multi-faith program runs every Sunday from 3pm to 4pm on Casey Radio 97.7 and everyone is encouraged to tune in.
