THE victim of a motorcycle crash in Lynbrook last month considers himself lucky to be alive.
Raymond Hinde, 20, wants to thank the people who supported him after the accident.
The Cranbourne resident was struck by a car at the intersection of Hallam Road and Livingston Rise, while riding his motorcycle about 3.30pm on Thursday 28 July.
Raymond was knocked unconscious and had suspected spinal, knee and hip injuries. He spent five days in The Alfred hospital. It ended up that he only suffered a shattered wrist and required nine pins and a plate.
Raymond’s brother Will Hinde contacted the News after he was told that about five or six people pulled over to assist his younger brother after the collision.
“We wanted to try and thank those people who stopped and helped,” he said.
“He was unconscious and had suspected spinal injuries. They stopped and helped and held his head until the ambulances arrived.
“If it wasn’t for those people, he could be gone.
“We also just want to let everyone know that he’s OK and survived.”
Raymond said he was very grateful to those who stopped.
“I’m glad they were there and helped me out,” he said.
“I had no idea what was going on, I can’t remember anything. “When I woke up, I remember everyone around me telling me to keep still and relax.”
Raymond said he considered himself lucky to be alive.
“My brother took photos of my bike, it was pretty shocking,” he said.
“The man from the towing yard said he had seen bikes with less damage than mine where people hadn’t survived.”
Raymond said the crash had not scared him off motorcycles.
“I’m already looking at getting my next bike,” he said.
