Cloth nappies in focus

CASEY families are invited to learn more about the benefits of cloth nappies and other environmentally friendly children’s products.
The City of Casey has invited residents to its free annual Cloth Nappy and Green Kids Expo, to be held on Saturday 24 September.
The expo will feature wide range of sustainable baby products including toys, clothing, skincare and bathroom products, as well as useful information on new-style modern cloth nappies and other tips for parents.
City of Casey manager waste management Michael Jansen said modern cloth nappies came in many different styles, colours, sizes and materials, and were affordable and offered a better alternative for the environment than disposable plastic nappies.
“Unlike cloth nappies of old, modern cloth nappies can go straight into the washing machine, so are very easy to use,” he said.
At the expo, residents will be able to enter the council’s monthly ‘Cloth Nappy Rebate Draw’ which allows families who purchase cloth nappies to enter the draw to have half of the cost refunded, up to the value of $300.
To enter the draw, Casey residents who purchase cloth nappies can submit their original receipt along with a Nappy Rebate Draw Form, available from the council’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.au. Draws take place monthly and entries are kept month-to-month.
The expo will be held on Saturday 24 September from 9am to 4pm at the Cranbourne Public Hall, corner of Clarendon and High streets, Cranbourne.
