BUNNING Warehouse Cranbourne has been doing its bit to help improve the lives of children and students with special needs recently.
Staff from the Cranbourne store worked with special needs students from Marnebek School to help continue their education about transport.
The students visited Bunnings on Thursday 30 June, making wooden cars in an effort to improve their understanding of the range of transportation available.
The workers also lent a helping hand to Wresacare, Cranbourne, in June by renovating their premises.
The team members tore up the carpet, placed down insulation and re-laid two main rooms with floating timber floors.
Wresacare chief executive Vick Knight said they approached Bunnings Warehouse Cranbourne and asked for some help and advice to improve their facility.
“Bunnings choose to help by installing new floating timber flooring,” she said.
“New flooring was needed as Wrescare staff were finding it increasingly difficult to manoeuvre wheelchairs throughout the facility.
“It was also difficult to move equipment, such as lifting machines, into the rooms to assist placing severely disabled children in their beds.
Ms Knight said all the materials were donated by Bunnings.
Basketballs and tennis balls were also donated as the team wanted the children to have something to enjoy as part of their visit,” she said.
“It’s great to see Bunnings helping the community.”
Bunnings Warehouse Cranbourne complex manager Mark Dempsey said Bunnings was committed to supporting the local community.
“We do this through active community involvement such as refurbishing community buildings, conducting sustainability activities with school children and gardening groups as well as weekend DIY workshops helping local residents with their home improvement projects.
“Bunnings Warehouse Cranbourne will continue to support Wresacare and other local organisations that are such a vital part of the community.
“It is part of our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate.”
