A CRANBOURNE man has been named a finalist for a major award at the 2011 Victorian Training Awards.
Stuart Dunstall, who studies Certificate III and IV in Engineering Mechanical and Certificate III and IV in Electrotechnology at Swinburne University of Technology TAFE Division, is up for Victorian Apprentice of the Year.
Stuart joins a number of other individuals and institutions in the south-east as finalists.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Education Inga Peulich congratulated the finalists from the area.
Ms Peulich said the Victorian Training Awards were the premier event on Victorian vocational education and that the finalists should be proud to be recognised for outstanding achievement and innovation.
“The Victorian Training Awards are a wonderful way to recognise the valuable contribution apprentices, trainees, students, teachers, employers, and training providers make in ensuring our state has a strong skills base, so that Victorian communities and industries can prosper,” Ms Peulich said.
“I am especially pleased that the south-east is well represented in the award nominations.”
Awards will be presented in 14 categories with prizes of up to $10,000 awarded to winners in most categories.
The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony on Friday 2 September at the Crown Palladium.
Winners also have the opportunity to represent Victoria at the Australian Training Awards held in Brisbane in November.
