THIRD year apprentice mechanics from Casey are encouraged to enter the Trading Post Racing Recruit search for a chance to be a part of the 2012 V8 Supercar Championship Series.
One lucky mechanical apprentice’s dreams will come true with a year under the bonnet of the Trading Post Racing car in the 2012 V8 Supercar series, working for the Ford Performance Racing team and supporting racing legend Will Davison.
The winner, selected from apprentices around the country, will learn from the best at the Team’s Campbellfield headquarters in Melbourne and will travel with the team to be part of the on-track action at several races throughout the Championship Series.
“Trading Post has created an amazing opportunity for an apprentice mechanic to spend their final year working alongside some of the best in the industry,” Mr Davison said.
“Working with a V8 Supercar crew is one of the most exciting and career enhancing developments for any aspiring mechanic and I’m looking forward to helping judge and ultimately help select the Trading Post racing recruit.”
Head of Telstra Media Classifieds Michael Padden said he was delighted Trading Post and Ford Performance Racing had come up with a unique program to give a talented young apprentice mechanic a big career break.
“When Trading Post joined as naming rights sponsor of car number six at the end of 2010, we wanted to do more than put our logo on the side of the car,” Mr Padden said.
“Chances like these just don’t come up often, and we encourage everyone with a passion for working on the best cars in the business to give entering a go.”
Ford Performance Racing Team principal Tim Edwards said he looked forward to welcoming the Trading Post racing recruit to the Ford Performance Racing team.
“I started my career many years ago as a race team mechanic in Formula Three racing and gained huge insight and experience in and around all the mechanics working in the garage,” said Mr Edwards.
“We’re delighted to be searching for the Trading Post racing recruit and look forward to welcoming the new apprentice to our garages next year to complete their final year of training with the Trading Post racing team.”
Third year apprentice mechanics are encouraged to enter via the Trading Post website at www.tradingpost.com/recruit by 25 July.
