A SILVER-gilt medal at the Chelsea Flower Show awarded to the Trailfinders Australian Garden and presented by Fleming’s is another win for Cranbourne.
Devon Meadows resident Zack Loft was part of all the action at the Royal Horticultural Society’s prestigious show in London, working under Wes Fleming from Fleming’s Nurseries.
The 14-strong team of landscapers and trade specialists worked for 17 days to create the gardening masterpiece de-signed by Ian Baker of Ian Baker Garden Design and based on the journey of The Endeavour with Sir Joseph Banks.
Mr Loft said the medal was a great achievement for everyone.
“I think the whole team worked together really well and together we built the garden to the very best of our ability,” he said.
“We are all really proud of what we have achieved and happy to say that we have been part of a medal winning garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.”
Mr Baker said he was extremely proud of the garden and loves it because it is more to them than just a pretty garden.
“It feels special, romantic in way but for me mostly peaceful. It is a lovely place to sit and relax despite the hordes of onlookers,” he said.
“We were ambitious with what we wanted to achieve, so the result does feel a bit like reaching the grand final, playing the game of your life but only to lose it by a goal.
“However, the journey undertaken and experience has been worth its weight in gold and that’s what I love about this industry and the people you meet working in it.”
Mr Fleming, who has received four gold and three silver-gilt medals since their inaugural garden show in 2004, said he loved what they produced.
“I’m proud of the team for presenting a garden where the plants were the hero,” he said. “Coming into my seventh Chelsea Flower Show, I thought this would be the final one, but now I have a little itch to come back again! We’ll see!”
