A MAN who suffered an electric shock while up a tree in Tooradin is in a stable condition.
Advanced life support paramedics from Cranbourne and intensive care paramedics from Hampton Park were called to the scene just before noon last Friday and treated the 26-year-old man.
Paramedic May Deveson said upon arrival they were told that the man had been unconscious for up to 10 minutes.
“We were told that he was lopping the tree when somehow he came into contact with powerlines,” she said.
“Witnesses said he suffered a severe shock and lost consciousness while still in the tree and several metres off the ground.”
Paramedics waited 45 minutes for the powerlines to be disconnected before reaching the man, and found he had significant burns to his legs and hands as a result of the shock.
“A drip was used to give him pain relief medication and fluids and a burns dressing was placed onto his injured skin to cool and protect it from infection,” Ms Deveson said.
He was airlifted to The Alfred hospital.
