APPLICATIONS are now being accepted for the City of Casey and Spectrum Entertainment’s 2011 Pushstart Battle of the Bands competition.
Competitors must be aged between 15 and 21 years old and not have a current recording contract, publishing or distribution deal.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes urged young local musicians to join the competition.
“The Battle of the Bands competition is a great showcase of local talent and a fantastic opportunity for up-and-coming bands to get some exposure,” she said.
The competition will be run over two heats and a final – heat one on Friday 1 July at Cranbourne Public Hall, heat two on Friday 8 July at Narre Community Learning Centre and the final on Friday 22 July at Cranbourne Public Hall.
Winners of the final win a recording/rehearsal package courtesy of Pony Music and will go on to represent the City of Casey in the Southern Metropolitan Regional Final, with the winner of that going on to the state final held at Pushover 2012.
Application forms are available online at www.insideinfo.casey.vic.gov.au and in hard copy from all City of Casey Customer Service Centres and Youth Information Centres.
Applications must be received by close of business on Friday 3 June.
The 2011 City of Casey/Spectrum Entertainment Pushstart Battle of the Bands is a fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free, all ages event.
