BIRD lovers will be delighted to hear that Victoria’s premier annual bird sale and expo is soaring closer.
The Mornington Peninsula Avicultural Society will stage its 27th expo on Sunday 29 May at the State Dog Centre in 655 Westernport Highway in Skye.
It’s set to be a colourfuldisplay of feathers with morethan 100 Victorian and interstate breeders selling a large variety of both Australian and exotic birds. These will include parrots, finches, quail, doves, budgies and canaries. Enthusiasts will enjoy the huge range of bird-related products such as foods, cage accessories, toys, aviaries, breeding boxes and bird-related art works.
Experts will also be fluttering around, ready to offer advice to any novice backyard bird breeder right through to the experienced aviculturist.
The event can be enjoyed by the whole family with face painting for kids, refreshments and the Victorian Zebra Finch Society’s annual exhibition show.
The actual sale will take off the ground at 11am on the day but the trade and accessories area and face painting will be open to the public from 9.30.
The show has been very popular in the past and last year attracted more than 2000 aviarists and the like. Admission to the sale is $2.00 for adults while children under 8 years can fly in for free.
More information on the sale and the society can be found at www.mpas.webs.com or by calling David on 0428 518 646.
