Pay for playtime

A NUMBER of Casey primary schools are set to receive new playgrounds, as the Coalition Government swings into action to restore play areas affected by the Building the Education Revolution (BER) construction works.
The State Government has committed to provide up to $5 million to reinstate playgrounds, hard courts and car parks removed or demolished as part of the BER projects.
Local schools Hampton Park Primary School, Lynbrook Primary School, Brentwood Park Primary School, Hallam Valley Primary School, Narre Warren North Primary School and Aldercourt Primary School will receive between $17,000 and $45,000 each for the works.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Education Inga Peulich welcomed the government’s decision to reinstate facilities lost at government schools during the roll-out of the federal BER program.
“This is a win for local schools and the Casey community as playgrounds and hard courts play a vital role in student engagement, learning, social skills and physical education,” Ms Peulich said.
“The government has listened to schools and acted to reinstate these facilities.
“Children across the state will be able to enjoy these new play areas, which are essential for a well-rounded education.”
