History on the wall

A VIBRANT and colourful community mural depicting the past, present and future of Hampton Park now covers what used to be a blank brick wall at Arthur Wren Hall.
The community artwork was funded by the City of Casey and the State Government via the Community Renewal program and was supported by the Hampton Park Progress Association and more than 300 community members including school students, disability groups, senior and multicultural groups, families and community groups.
City of Casey mayor Cr Shar Balmes said at the launch of the mural that it was not only beautiful; it was something the whole community could be proud of.
“The mural is a reflection of this community’s values and a celebration of Hampton Park’s history from indigenous beginnings and European settlement, through to the diverse multicultural community of today that makes Hampton Park so special,” Cr Balmes said.
“Council is committed to continuing to work in partnership with the community to continue to make Hampton Park a great place to live and we look forward to a bright future ahead.”
Cr Balmes congratulated lead artist Rob Matheson and his team Jenny Saulwick, Adam Magennis, Beryl Wilson and Margaret Worn, as well as the many talented community members who contributed their time, skills and passion to the project.
