Big wheels, tyres squeal

THE 14th annual Tooradin Tractor Pull and Truck Show last weekend was a success despite smaller numbers in crowds and entries.
The show, which is usually held in January, had been postponed due to flooding on the showgrounds.
Event promoter Peter McGrath said the change in when the show was run was one of the major causes of the dwindling numbers.
“We got about 3000 people when we usually get about 5000,” Mr McGrath said. “There were about 65 truck entries but we usually get about 100. But it was a good day.”
The crowds enjoyed the main events, the trucks and the tractor pull, and the youngsters had a chance to get their faces painted and play on the many amusements available on the day.
The helicopter ride was a popular choice for many show goers, which provided an aerial view of the showgrounds and everything that was happening.
Money raised from the show will be going back into the community, with local community groups and sporting clubs being the main beneficiaries.
They also donate money to charities.
The show will again be back in January next year, and Mr McGrath said to expect bigger and better things.
“We hope to see everyone back there next year in January for a bigger and better show,” he said. “It will be our 15th year and we’ll find something spectacular to make out of it, something out of the ordinary which we always try to do.”
