YOU’D think they would be rapt to be away from school.
Instead Year 12 Lyndhurst Secondary College students have thanked their teachers and a neighbouring school for helping them during last month’s flood drama.
The school was damaged during the deluge that hit Casey, and was closed to students for about a week as water flooded the administration building and VCE area.
Year 12 students were relocated to Cranbourne East Secondary College during that period, to ensure they didn’t miss out on their studies.
The four school captains, Renae, Manmeet, Luke and Adam, thanked those who helped them during the transition period.
“We were quickly relocated to Cranbourne East and it was a really great school and we really appreciate all they did for us,” Luke said.
Manmeet said the students were able to make use of the new facilities at the Cranbourne East School.
There was no room for slacking off, as Renae said the students even had more periods than usual while they were at Cranbourne East Secondary College.
“I think the teachers have been great,” Ranae said.
Despite the abnormal start to the school year, the school captains said they were excited about the year ahead, and Adam said he looked forward to being able to implement changes for his fellow students.
Teacher Tania Shannon said parents and students were kept informed about the closure of the school on their website, and work was provided to students. Ms Shannon said the support from parents was “outstanding”.
