Police nab speedsters- Casey Highway Patrol Sergeant Pat McGavigan said police were cracking down on speeding drivers. 60600

POLICE busted dozens of drivers speeding on Casey roads during a special operation last week.
Members of Casey Highway Patrol were up at the crack of dawn last week to carry out Operation Rooster, targeting early-morning drivers on the Princes Highway.
Sergeant Pat McGavigan said the operation, which began at 4am on 14 February, detected 36 speeding drivers and issued 12 other traffic offences.
Sgt McGavigan said Operation Rooster would be conducted on major roads in Casey every month.
“Come 5am, the roads get pretty busy,” he said. “Many people think we aren’t out early in the morning and think they won’t get caught speeding to get to work.”
Members of the Casey Highway Patrol also provided support to road policing for a drug bus set up in Hallam on Saturday evening.
The drug bus was set up from 7.30pm until 8.30pm. Police said 50 drivers were tested but none returned a positive result.
