CRANBOURNE East Secondary College and Lyndhurst Primary School were officially opened by Education Minister Martin Dixon last Friday.
Each school welcomed about 150 students for the new year.
The state-of-the-art secondary school, built as a public private partnership, has flexible learning spaces and an environmentally friendly design.
“From what I’ve seen, it’s blown me away,” Mr Dixon said.
“This is an excellent teaching and learning facility as well as an environmentally friendly school.”
Cranbourne East Secondary College principal Barry Wiggs said the facilities were superb.
“We’ve got everything we could want at the school and everything was up and running from day one,” he said.
“The first week was terrific. We concentrated on the students finding their way around the school and meeting staff.”
The double gymnasium and sports grounds will be shared with neighbouring Cranbourne East Primary School, which was also opened this year.
Lyndhurst Primary School welcomed 150 students this year, including 50 new preps.
“With over 95 per cent of the students enrolled living in Lyndhurst, the school presents an exciting new education opportunity for families in this local area,” Lyndhurst Primary principal Greg Lacey said.
The school is expected to grow to 400 students in the next three years.
