POLICE have reopened the case into the disappearance of Gary Adams in 2003.
New information has led police to offer a $100,000 reward for public information, which can help solve the disappearance of the 17-year-old Cranbourne resident.
“Investigators now believe Gary has met with foul play,” Homicide Detective Inspector John Potter said.
“We’re asking anyone with information to come forward and help bring closure to Gary’s family and friends, particularly his mother Jo-Ann.”
Jo-Ann said she last saw her son when they were putting up the Christmas tree and has long believed he was a victim of foul play.
She hopes the reward will bring the family some closure.
“I am very pleased they finally believe he has met with foul play and it means it gives someone the opportunity to contact the police and let them know what they saw or heard,” she said.
“We would like to get Gary home, to give him the peace he deserves.”
She described Gary as being in a very happy mood on the last day she saw him, and said he was looking forward to Christmas – and had asked for a new BMX bike as a present.
Gary left his home on 3 December and spent two days with friends before returning home before 6pm on 5 December.
A half-eaten meal and his backpack were found in his room and his BMX bike was also left at the house.
Gary was last seen wearing blue jeans, black sneakers and was possibly carrying a Matt Hoffman brand skateboard.
Detective Inspector Potter said he hoped the reward would prompt someone with information to come forward – and that the smallest piece of information may help the investigation.
Anyone with information about the disappearance of Gary Adams can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
