Bob takes last Bight

By Bridget Brady
BOB Wray is waving goodbye to his beloved Blind Bight.
Mr Wray and his wife, Mary, will leave the tiny coastal township at the end of the month for warmer pastures in New South Wales.
Mr Wray has been an active member of the Blind Bight community since he arrived in the town about five years ago, including being president of the Blind Bight Boat Owners Association, the bus committee and campaigning for a skate ramp for kids.
He was acknowledged for his contributions to Blind Bight at a recent Casey council meeting.
Mr Wray said he would miss the place.
“I’ll mainly miss the people and the community,” Mr Wray said
“Not a day goes by that I don’t get a call from someone just ringing for a chat or for something that needs doing on the foreshore,” Mr Wray said.
“The whole thing has been a great experience.”
The Blind Bight Community Centre was a wonderful asset for the people, Mr Wray said.
Even though he was leaving the town, Mr Wray said he hoped Casey council would commit to building a skate ramp to provide more entertainment for children in Blind Bight.
Mr Wray said he was glad he took such an active role in the community.
“If you’ve got the energy, well everyone should be involved in some sort of community work,” he said.
