POLICE have condemned the actions of a 20-year-old Pakenham motorist caught travelling at 126km/h in a 50km/h zone in Cranbourne on Tuesday.
Police were conducting a roadblock on Monahans Road in Cranbourne when they detected the man speeding at 10.10am.
Casey Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Allen Inderwisch said the driver’s actions.
“It could have been disastrous,” Acting Sgt Inderwisch said. “It’s been a while since we’ve had a speed this high in a residential street. It’s extremely disappointing and very, very dangerous behaviour.”
The 20-year-old, who holds a New South Wales probationary licence, had his vehicle impounded for 48 hours and will be charged on summons to front court in relation to dangerous driving, exceeding the speed limit, and driving an unsafe vehicle, Acting Sgt Inderwisch said.
