At 10.50pm on 21 January, the 33-year-old was driving a truck on the South Gippsland Highway when he noticed three boys on BMX bikes near Monomeith Street.
As he passed, a rock about 10cm wide was thrown into the windscreen and shattered it.
The man drove to Cranbourne Police Station, with the rock still lodged in the windscreen, and reported the incident to police.
The boys are described as being 15 or 16-years-old and wearing dark clothing.
