Casey givers honoured

PEOPLE who contribute to an inclusive Casey community were recognised at a recent awards presentation.
The Communities in Partnership Disability Leadership Awards took place at the final council meeting of 2010, recognising individuals and groups who showed outstanding leadership and dedication in supporting others in the community.
The individual award went to Travis Harken, for his vision and ambition to advocate for others through educating the community about the inclusion of people with a disability.
Mr Harken is the ambassador for Wallara Australia, is a guest speaker at public forums and is a consultative committee member at Windermere Child and Family Services.
The Wallara Seniors Group received the group award for their work in delivering meals to the aged and housebound.
Volunteers in the group provided social interaction for those in need.
Casey mayor Shar Balmes said the award winners were champions to their peers and the community.
