PUT your money to good use and sponsor Donna Gordon and her team for the World’s Greatest Shave.
The team will be doing a number of fund-raising events, so every resident can join in the action.
Ms Gordon, who has seen the effects of leukaemia first-hand, is shaving her head along with two other girlfriends to pay tribute to her brother Jake, who passed away 16 years ago.
“He was special in many ways but he also had Down Syndrome, making him even more special in my eyes and to those that knew him,” Ms Gordon said.
“Jake has left us but we feel by doing what we are doing we are keeping him living on.
“Jake was the oldest of four of us, Jake, Donna, Erica and Corey. We are all involved in this shave together, Jake being the reason we do it, Erica and myself raising funds and Corey will be the very keen shaver as he was first to donate $100 to the team.”
In their bid to raise as much money as possible, Ms Gordon and her family and friends are pulling all the strings they can.
“We’re going to have a monster garage sale on Saturday 15 January,” Ms Gordon said.
“We are still looking for quality saleable goods to be donated for the sale, those of which are not sold will be donated to any charity willing to take them.
“We will also be having a cake and cuppa day, where people can make a gold coin donation for some cake and a cuppa.”
Ms Gordon, her sister Erica Orsolic and friend Sophie Miller will all shave their heads on 12 March, providing their donation targets are reached.
Ms Gordon and Ms Miller will shave their heads for $5000 and Ms Orsolic will only shave her head if their donations hit $10,000.
To sponsor the team, visit www.worldsgreatestshave.com, click sponsor team (the big green button) and search their team – ‘JOHPs LIVING ON’. Click on the team and fill in your details.
The monster garage sale will be held at Ms Gordon’s Cranbourne home at 32 Valepark Crescent. For more information, call Ms Gordon on 0424786152.
