POLICE will step up patrols around a Sikh temple in Lynbrook after reports of the attempted abduction of a young boy.
An anonymous source told the News a group of people entered the temple during a prayer service last Wednesday night and tried to abduct a boy about 11 years old.
The man said the incident shocked and saddened those at the Nanaksar Thath Isher Darbar Sikh Temple, which is on Evans Road.
Senior Sergeant Andrew Horscroft from Cranbourne Police Station said police had appointed a liaison officer to work with the Sikh community. “We will be patrolling the area and ensuring that they’re aware that there is a police presence,” Sen Sgt Horscroft said.
Police are investigating the incident.
