TWO Lynbrook residents celebrated birthday landmarks last week – Linda Fisher celebrated her 102nd birthday and Liu Bao Yao turned 100.
The two women celebrated their birthdays surrounded by fellow residents of the Southern Cross Holt MP Anthony Byrne attended the birthday celebrations and presented Mrs Fisher and Ms Yao with certificates of recognition.
“On behalf of the Holt community, I congratulate Mrs Fisher and Ms Yao on reaching this significant milestone and hope they enjoyed these wonderful celebrations to mark this event,” Mr Byrne said.
Mrs Fisher has lived in Cranbourne for the past 18 years and has only recently moved into the Southern Cross facility.
“The key to longevity was a strong family,” Mrs Fisher said.
Ms Yao celebrated her birthday with her five children, 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
“It was a significant achievement to come to Australia to live,” Ms Yao said reflecting back on her emigration from China.
Holt residents are encouraged to contact Mr Byrne’s office about their milestone birthdays or anniversaries if they wish to organise a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister, Governor General or The Queen.
