Club launches drug and drinking lesson

THE Lions Club of Balla Balla will launch its fight against youth drinking this Sunday at the Tooradin Market.
The club, which incorporates Tooradin, Warneet, Pearcedale, Blind Bight and Cannons Creek, is holding a stall to prepare adolescents and their parents for the coming party season, and also to help parents anticipate problems that can occur.
It aims to engage the community and highlight the problems surrounding alcohol, from drink driving, binge-drinking and depression, to the effects that al-cohol has on the community at large.
It will also provide a platform for the release of the ‘Alcohol and Your Brain’ DVD, about the effect alcohol has on young minds, which will also be available for community groups and schools to buy.
The work is to support the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation Inc. Program.
The members of the Lions Club along with the Cranbourne Police and Chris Walters from South East Drug & Alcohol Service will be available to talk to people at the market along with brochures about managing alcohol, designed to help parents reduce youth drinking.
The market is on Sunday 21 November at the Tooradin foreshore.
