Kinder kindness

By Nicole Williams
LOCAL kindergartens are set for a funding boost.
State Labor Member for Narre Warren South, Judith Graley, announced this week that every Victorian kindergarten will receive a share of $3.2 million in extra funding for minor capital works.
A grant of $2300 from the Brumby Labor Government will enable every Victorian kindergarten to purchase and replace equipment and educational resources.
“The additional investment in better facilities for our kindergartens will assist children to get the best possible start in life,” Ms Graley said.
According to Ms Graley, the Narre Warren South electorate will particularly benefit from the grants as local kindergartens provide a valuable contribution to an expanding area.
“This is particularly good news for my electorate of Narre Warren South, which is a growing area and home to many young families,” she said.
City of Casey manager of children’s services Virginia Lloyd said that the City of Casey manages 31 kindergartens and all have confirmed that they will be receiving the funding.
The funds will be used for such items as toys and equipment for the children,” Ms Lloyd said.
