Residents of Harkaway, Narre Warren North and Lynbrook have held fire-break family fun days, where emergency services crew and council staff have been on hand to provide information and tips on fire safety.
After Black Saturday, residents’ groups have been formed and Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford said they were a great way for residents to work together.
“By working together and taking responsibility for being prepared for emergencies, as individuals and collectively, residents are also becoming more connected in the process by creating a more literal fire-break,” Cr Wreford said.
“I commend and thank each of the residents’ groups for the enormous amount of work they have done. The events have shown that the communities are resilient and, together, are able to regroup, rebuild, recover and move on.”
