By Bridget Cook
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera announced that the City of Casey would receive $55,500 funding from the State Government to support the development of lighting.
The grant will facilitate the installation of four light towers and lighting that will meet Australian Standard (2560) – Sports Lighting of 100 lux for rugby training.
The lighting will also have the capacity for possible future upgrade to 200 lux for night competition standard.
Mr Perera said the grant was provided through the latest round of the Community Facility Funding Program – Minors Facilities Category.
“Locals love their sport, especially here in Cranbourne,” Mr Perera said.
“We want to make it easier for the community to stay involved in the sports and activities they enjoy, and to lead healthy and active lifestyles.
“This funding will go a long way in helping rugby cater for the increasing demand for sport in the local area.”
The project was one of 63 projects to share in more than $3 million in the latest round of funding.
“We want locals to experience the benefits of an active lifestyle, and we’re continuing to work closely with local councils and communities to develop quality, accessible facilities,” he said.
“Projects like these ensure local facilities remain an important place where the community can meet up, develop a sense of belonging and play the sports they love for years to come.”
