They’ve got the look

By Bridget Cook
NEUTRAL and pastel tones were the most popular choices amongst the most fashionable fillies at the TAB Cranbourne Cup on Sunday.
More than 100 fashionistas, including men, strutted their stuff on the Myer Fashions on the Field stage in hope of winning a share in the $6000 worth of Myer gift cards up for grabs.
It was all about the complete look at this years event, with the top 10 finalists in the Myer Lady of the Day competition all completing their looks with a range of accessories.
The hatinator, a cross between and fascinator and hat, was a popular choice for many contestants for headwear, as were large flowers on fascinators and hats.
Beige, peaches and neutral tones were the colours of choice for many contestants, with the three place getters all opting for that look.
And while neutral was popular, the classic black and white combination still made an appearance, as did brighter outfits, with floral prints and splashes of colour.
This year judges were 2008 Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic, the face of this year’s Country’s Best Dressed Racegoer competition Bree Laughlin and veteran of Fashions on the Field and multiple winner of Fashions on the Field competitions across Victoria Caryl Browell.
Some of the judging criteria included: headwear must complement overall look of the outfit, incorporating current styles of Spring Racewear and fashions trends, appropriately dressed for the occasion and weather, individuality and creativity.
For the men, grey suits were popular among the contestants and the classic black suit made an appearance.
Accessories were the key to making the look stand out, with many men opting for hats, pins and sunglasses to complete their look.
The winner of the Myer Lady of the Day competition received a $3500 Myer gift card, the runner-up $1500 and third place $500. The winner of the Myer Man of the Day was awarded a $500 gift card.
Chantelle Catena was the winner of the Myer Lady of the Day, Geannie Todaro was runner-up and Blanche Mifud was third place.
Tim Marsh won the Myer Man of the Day.
