IT was not just about the female fashionistas at this year’s TAB Cranbourne Cup, with a Myer Man of the Day category introduced.
Tim Marsh, from Carrum Downs, took out the top honour and a $500 Myer gift card.
Mr Marsh, 46, was dressed in a dark grey suit, purple and white checked shirt, purple tie and accessorised with a black trilby hat, silver handkerchief in his pocket and flower pin.
Mr Marsh said he got his shirt and tie from Myer and his suit was Morrissey.
Mr Marsh said the key to winning Fashions on the Field event is attention to detail.
“You have to make sure everything co-ordinates and all the colours are tonal,” he said.
“You have a better chance if you have a completely finished look, ensuring leathers are polished, your outfit doesn’t look like its been worn too often and everything matches.”
The Cranbourne Cup on Sunday was Mr Marsh third Fashions on the Field competition. He won at a competition in Cairns and entered, but without success, on the day before the cup at The Age Caulfield Guineas Day.
Mr Marsh said he would spend his prize money on clothing, most likely a new suit.
