Covering up in cloth

PARENTS and parents-to-be in Casey are invited to attend council’s free Cloth Nappy and Green Kids Expo on Saturday 23 October to find out more about modern cloth nappies.
City of Casey Mayor Lorraine Wreford said the expo was a fantastic opportunity for families with young children to find out all they need to know about the new-style modern cloth nappies which now come in many different styles, colours, sizes and materials.
“This year, the expo will also feature a wide range of other sustainable baby products, including toys, clothing, skincare and bathroom products as well as other relevant information for parents,” Cr Wreford said.
City of Casey Waste Management manager Michael Jansen said that compared to plastic nappies, which take hundreds of years to break down in landfill, modern cloth nappies were more affordable and better for the environment
“For many young families inCasey, disposable nappies take up a large part of the household rubbish bin,” Mr Jansen said.
“Today’s cloth nappies can go straight into the washing machine and there are lots of options for all budgets and different baby needs, saving households money and benefiting the environment.”
Residents who go to the expo can enter the council’s monthly Cloth Nappy Rebate Draw, which gives families who purchase cloth nappies the chance to have half the cost refunded, up to the value of $300.
The free Casey Cloth Nappy and Green Kids Expo will be held at Cranbourne Public Hall on the corner of Clarendon and High Streets. The expo is open from 10am to 4pm.
