Dressed to frill

By Bridget Cook
COMPETITION won’t be restricted to just racing at the TAB Cranbourne Cup, with the region’s most fashionable fillies geared up to compete in the Myer Fashions on the Field.
And the frocked up race-goers will have to win the vote of 2008 Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic – who will represent Myer and headline the judging panel for this year’s competition.
The fashion stakes are high with a total of $6,000 in Myer gift cards up for grabs.
For the first time on Cranbourne Cup Day, there will be two categories as Myer and the Cranbourne Turf Club have introduced the inaugural Myer Man of the Day category. The Myer Lady of the Day is the other category.
The 2010 TAB Cranbourne Cup marks Ms Dundovic’s first visit to Cranbourne, with the former Miss Universe finalist very keen to see what the local fashionistas are wearing trackside.
“Every race meet has its own distinct style and I can’t wait to see what the Cranbourne competitors bring to the Myer Fashions on the Field Competition,” Ms Dundovic said.
“Racing fashion is all about finding that fine balance between contemporary trends and traditional racewear. As a judge, I will be looking for lady-like elegance, attention to detail and most importantly millinery and accessories.”
She said Myer had many fashionable brands for the Spring Racing season.
“Racegoers don’t need to spend a fortune on frocking up for the races this season, all these brands allow shoppers to purchase high-end fashion at high-street prices,” she said.
Cranbourne Turf Club’s sales manager Luke King said he was looking forward to a great event and was very excited to have Laura Dundovic on board to judge.
“The Cranbourne Turf Club is delighted to have Myer on board again for the third year running in 2010 as naming rights sponsor of Myer Fashions on the Field,” he said.
“The presence of Myer and VIP Myer Fashions on the Field judge, Laura Dundovic, will bring out the best in fashion at this year’s Cranbourne Cup and enhance the experience of Myer Fashions on the Field entrants.”
Registration for all categories will be held at the Myer Fashions on the Field Stage from 10am until 12.15pm with competitions commencing around 12.30pm.
