Pet crackdown in Casey

CASEY council has started door-knocking residents to check if their pets are registered.
The campaign is being carried out to encourage pet registration and ensure residents avoid a fine.
The penalty is $239 if a dog or cat is not registered by 10 April each year.
Casey’s manager of community safety Caroline Bell said it was important to register and microchip pets in case they got lost.
“This includes newly-registered and previously registered dogs and cats without a microchip that move into Casey from another municipality. In addition, all cats must be de-sexed prior to being registered,” Ms Bell said.
“As a growth municipality, many new pets move in to Casey with their families, so residents are also reminded to update their pet’s registration details with council.”
