ROBOTS have invaded St Agatha’s Primary School.
Luckily, they’re not leaving a trail of destruction.
Some clever senior students at the school have been working on a project all term and have created Lego robots they have programmed to move forward and backwards, respond to noise and light and even hit a ball. After the students constructed their robots in small groups, they downloaded software into the robots to make them move.
ICT teacher Michelle Hinds said the students relished the opportunity to try something new, and were ecstatic when their hard work paid off.
“It’s the first time we’ve ever done something like this and the kids loved it,” Ms Hinds said.
“The kids that weren’t academically inclined really shone. The hands-on experience really suited them.”
Ms Hinds said the students showed great leadership and needed a bit of patience at time when things didn’t work out.
Ms Hinds said the school looked forward to carrying out the project again next year.
